will make today. we have mostly overcast conditions, now all the way from the san francisco coast up through livermore. we'll let you know when it's going to start to break apart and more importantly when this cooldown comes to a close. i have nhave those answers. >> the fog and the marine layer, this is not marine layer, this is the traffic layer. look at this. heavier than we see through the part of almost. folks head down to isabelle and stanley. a 22 minute drive. speeds averaging 40 miles per hour. in the last six minutes i watched as the increase in volume, no metering lights yet. it's a tuesday, we should see them about 6:15.

>> thank you, mike. 6:01. new this morning firefighters in san mateo had to repond to an emergency outside their front door. an suv slammed through the door at one of the garages. marla tellez joins us live with the story. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i spoke to a firefighter who is on duty, he was on last night when that sunshine suv came slamming into the garage door and he says it was a shocker. this is fire station 27 off deanzo boulevard off 92 in the man meat hills. the most extensive part of the damage, the door wiped out. the pile of debris, there is some damage inside in the interior. you can get a look at that. this is what we're hearing. across the street we're going to give you a look, the deanda off

ram. the driver lost control and slid into this fire station. we do have the shoe from last night. it happened before 11:00. you can see the white yukon, it could have been a lot worse. no firefighters or personnel were hurt. but the two people, there were two inside the suv taken to the hospital. we're hearing stanford hospital with injuries. the extent is not known. this has not been confirmed. i'm working to thet this confirmed but we hear it's a female mother potentially driving drunk, had her 17-year-old with her. the daughter tried to grab the wheel and straighten her driving out. the end result is the video and the damage behind us t suv

slamming into the fire house. if there is a bright side to this, they ended up here where the firefighters would cover their response time immediately. that is the bright side of this story. >> right f. there could be any. thank you for finding it. >> yes. >> it is 6:04. a mother and her baby are safe after a fire ripped through their apartment. on crest wood drive before 2:00 this morning, the baby is now in the hospital recovering. firefighters say they were able to rescue the baby because the apartment's sprinkler system was working properly. >> they have the fire under control. so far no word on the cause. >> new documents show nine days after kid naping jaycee dugard a parole officer paid a visit.

the "sacramento bee" obtained them through the freedom of information act. the parole officers report concluded that things were going well saying garrido appeared committed. the other reports through 18 years of apivity, all of which is everything is okay. garrido was an parole. the news comes on the same day that dugard is about to release her book. the book talks about the day she was kidnapped. the writing could help jaycee heal. phillip will spend the rest of his life in prison, nancy is eligible for parole in 36 years. >> this morning an independent

investigator is looking into the officer involved fatal shooting. bob is live with more plus a look at yesterday's service disruption. >> reporter: good morning. b.a.r.t. will hold two special meetings at its headquarters in oakland to look into whether two officers were justified in the shooting death of a man here at the civic center. there were about 100 people who made their opinions known by disrupting the evening commute here at the 16th street station to protest the shooting. police shot charles hill three times on the civic center flat form where he had reportedly been drinking, armed with a knife and had thrown a broken vodka bottle at one of them. the board kuehled for a meeting

with its new independent police officers. this is a position created in response to the death of oscar grant, an unarmed passenger not and killed by an offer on new year's day. the auditor, mark smith, he has promise add thorough investigation into the charles hill shooting here at the civic center. smith is experienced in these, having helped similar positions in los angeles and chicago. this is only his third week on the job here. after his meeting this morning bard newly created 11-person citizen review bard. will neat discuss the shooting. both the review board and the auditor report to the b.a.r.t. board of directors. i bring this up, that means each side could disagree and present their own conclusions as to what

transpired. reporting lifrn, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> today students will be protesting a meeting by california state university officials over proposed tuition hikes. the board of russees will vote to consider a plan to raise tuition by well%. if approved understood graduate rates increase to more than $6400 which includes mandatory campus fees. the hike is necessary due to the state budget. funding was cut more than 20% eliminating $650 million. >> san francisco looks to get a new neighborhood a. judge tossed out most after legal challenge against the hunters point development. developers want to build more than 10,000 homes at the old ship beyond reasonable doubt and candle stick point. the judge says environmental concerns have been settled.

to the bay area have not yet deployed. the family members say they hope the order is working this official channels. relatives hope the dive team might locate the boat. >> a fire at the san diego zoo is arson of it when we told you about it yesterday it destroyed a gift store near the panda exhibit around 1:00 a.m. on monday morning. it was declared arson yesterday. luckily the fire did not hurt animals or people but did cause about $700,000 in damage. >> a public memorial will be held for former first lady betty ford today. she passed away on friday at the age of 93. john cadiz klemack is in palm desert. >> reporter: good morning. we are about a quarter of a mile from st. margaret's church where the services will take place. there will be two of them this

morning, we're going to have a camera inside to help share that. the public will be allowed to good in. we want to let you know that the secret service has this blocked off to anybody who is not invited to attend the events or live in this area. betty ford died over the weekend, on friday in fact, at 93 years old. undoubtedly will go down as a woman whose live changed many. ford wanted to be a dancer, majored in the art in college, then in 1947 she was introduced to gerald ford, they married in october 1948. in the white house betty ford's approval was said to be higher than her husband's. she raised awareness of addiction and breast cancer. she was open about her own issues which likely saved thousands of lives. i think the church is prepping for services to begin after 11:00 this morning.

we are socked in with fog in the city. up and down the coast now the dense clouds are shuging. the reason is on shore flow. we told you about this system of low pressure yesterday. as we head through today it's staying put, staying stationary. the changes come tomorrow. you can see it's dragging this cold front. we'll have this pass through the bay area and drop our temperatures more so. temps struggling to break that 70-degree mark. even the warmer spots so cooler on the way for tomorrow. hrd you'll notice that dink. temperaturewise as we head throughout the day. hooking mild, foggy conditions, probably until about 2:00 p.m. then the sun will come out, warming up to 63 degrees. areas of fog as we told you about, probably until about noon

the thickest fog will be out there. that means drizzle. watch for slick conditions. mostly cheer conditions. inland we see the south and the east bay cities cheer the fastest. like last night a little breesy throughout this afternoon. as we head through tomorrow temps keep tumbling. this morning uniform numbers just about, 56 in fairfield versus 53 in san francisco because that marine layer pushed inhand. you will likely experience over cost until about 11, probably going to have to wait until 2:00 p.m. for the sunshine. 63 as a result. 75 in redwood city. seven-day outlook, pretty good if you're not looking for the heat. stay in the bay area. temperatures are only going to break about 85 degrees not until

will hit the toll plaza. back to you for now. >> thank you. 6:23. california schools will soon have the power to punish students for cyber bullying. on friday governor brown signed the bill. the new law essentially tweaks a previous measure. it now addresses cyber bullying through cyber sites like facebook who officials will have the right to suspend or expel students for threatening others though this. >> could one of the largest companies in the south bay get smaller? we heard talks of cuts at cisco before. >> we expect more. we speculated in the past that cisco will decide it's hired too many. it expanded into too many categories and said cutbacks are

conclusions as to what transpired here. two sunday nights ago. reporting hive, "today in the bay." >> thank you. 6: 6:32. an suv slammed into the door. marla tellez joins us live with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this is one of those sort of freak accidents, it's not every day that a fire station becomes part of the accident. this is fire station 27 off of de anza bhfld in the hills and allen is giving you a look at the most extensive part of the damage with this main draj more wiped out. when we arrived a contractor was still here boarding up the door. what we're hearing if alhen can go across the street. this is the exit off 92.

what we're hearing the driver came off of this exit and ended up slamming into the fire station. we have the video from the scene. it happened shortly before clefrn clock. you can see the white gmc and all of the commotion it cause it. we're told a reserve fire truck was damaged. no firefighters or personnel first but there were two people in the suv, they were taken to the hos with injuries. what i'm working to confirm is we're hearing it was a mother and daughter in that suv. and the mother just happened to lose control. as to why is the question. san mateo police is handling this investigation. i put in a call to police waiting to hear back. i did speak to a firefighter who happened to be here last night. he is on buddy. now he tells me it was a

surprise, this does not happen every day. >> nor would you want it to. 6:34. we're hearing from the friends of a 14-year-old north bay teenage here died during a slumber party. takeimi rao was found dead. home run parents say their daughter and three other girls got sick in the middle of the night with what they thought was food poisoning. the next morning takeimi was dead. police believe the girls had been drinking. friends cannot believe she's gone. >> she's like really happy like upbeat people. selling me to take the right choices. >> an amazing little girl. completely surprised and really sad. >> if anything, it's the facts they are so naive and if she drank too much it's because she had not experience with drinking.

>> police do not plan to file charges against the girls parents. they did not know the girls were drinking. zh later this afternoon a rally at san francisco city hall to support a resolution for the man arrested for wearing baggy pants. deshon was arrested for not pulling up his baggy pants. he says he pulled up his pants after sitting down but then the incident became confrontational. he was arrested on suspicion of battery of a police officer, resisting and trespassing. u.s. airways racially profiled-imafter the airline show that they allowed a scantily clothed man fly without problems. you might want to grab a jacket. no connection to that whatsoever. >> that would not do it if you're waking up in the city.

>> two bug experts will be in washington to brief congressional staff about what they say is a big problem in the u.s. bed bugs and mosquitoes. kristen dahlgren is live in washington to tell us more. good morning. >> good morning. i was looking for a bright spot for the fact i don't get much sleep on this shift and i think i may have found it because we're talking about bed bugs. and what a huge problem they are. we knew they were gross but now these researchers from cornell university are going to be on the hill telling congress they could be a bigger health threat than we thought. we know they cause things like sleeplessness and stress. listen to this. they have been shown to cause anemia in kids and the elderly and the bites can leave us open

to the infections like mrsa. so it's a big concern. also a growing problem here in the u.s. if you look at the past few years the number of bed bug infestations increased 500% over the hast few years, now found in every state. more than a third are in hotels and motels mostly because this is so much turnover. an exterminator can be up to 4,000 so you continue want this problem. according to bed bug registry, san francisco is the tenth most infested city in the u.s. on that site. more than 516 cases in california just people writing in the report. so with the number a lot more than that. zh thank you very much. you got a ht of emand at them this morning. it's 6:44.

congress will vote today on whether to turn the lights off on the energy saving light bulbs. house republicans want to overturn parts of the 2007 energy act which required adopting more efficient light bulbs. the public should have the right to buy traditional cheaper bulbs. the obama administration opposes the change saying the new bulbs save billions in energy costs. hundreds of kids with diabetes looking forward to pumer sam. the society has pulled the mug on its summer comeps in the santa cruz mountains and lake tahoe though it's still advertising. the nonprofit says it doesn't have the money to run the program. parents want to know why they weren't know and why they sent out the message about refunds. this one that our best effort to
